Steps we follow in Reglazing Bathroom Tiles

1. Prep the Tile

Remove any debris or gunk from the tiles using a putty scraper or putty blade. Spray the surface with tile-cleaning solutions to loosen any hardened debris that is stuck on the tiles.

2. Sand the Tile

Attach a piece #400 grit to the sander and start sanding. It is important to remove the upper surface to allow the primer to adhere to the uncoated tile.

3. Set Up Ventilation

Vapors from these reglazing products can cause nausea, respiratory discomfort or headaches as they emit fumes. Open Window's in your bathroom and install a fan facing outward.

4. Prime the Tiles

Pour the bathroom tile reglazer in a paint tray, and then apply it on the tile surface. Paint brushes are used to cut into the narrow areas and paint rollers to cover larger areas. Prime all tiles before applying epoxy to get the best results.

5. Mix and Apply the Reglazing Epoxy

Mix the epoxy components according to the instructions of the manufacturer. Pour the epoxy mix into the paint tray once mixed. Apply it evenly. Allow the epoxy to cure for 45 to 60 minutes after application.

6. Use cut in brush for narrow areas

Paint brushes can be used to apply epoxy along the tile edges for the better results. Brush strokes are not an issue because epoxy is usually thick. However, don't apply too much as it can run.

7. Use the Roller for Wider Areas

Apply the epoxy with a paint roller on the tile surface. Use enough epoxy on the roller to prevent thin spots. Avoid apllying too much epoxy because it will run into the edges of tiles.

8. Apply the Second Coat

Allow the coating to dry as per product’s instructions. Apply a second layer of epoxy using the same method, in the same direction and let it dry.

9. Allow the Epoxy to Dry

Drying time varies, it can take up to 3 or 4 days for a tile reglaze mix to completely harden. It’s best to avoid using this bathroom as high humidity levels will prevent the reglazing epoxy from curing.

10. Clean the Tile

Once the epoxy is completely dry, give the entire surface a quick cleaning with a tile-cleaning solution and a microfiber cloth. You’ll then be able to clean these tiles with the same products and techniques as the original tiles.

  • It allows you to easily change the colours of your tiles as per latest trends without any tile replacement.

  • Retiling is messy and requires a lot of work and time.
